WHAT IS RAPID RELEASE THERAPY?

Rapid Release Therapy is a technology that uses a calculated high speed vibration to quickly release muscle tension and decrease pain. At some point in our lives, we injure oursevles, whether it be from a physical accident, poor posture or even resting for too long in the wrong position. These injuries can lead the body to create scar tissue and adhesions when repairing itself, which can limit our range of motion and cause pain. Rapid Release Therapy uses a calculated frequency of vibration that is 5x faster than a Theragun to quickly loosen scar tissue, decrease pain and improve range of motion. It can provide short and long term relief in a matter of 3-5 minute and be used as a standalone therapy or in conjunction with other TCM healing methods like acupuncture. People feel immediate relief and find the experience enjoyable and fascinating.

  • Is Rapid Release Therapy a TCM Healing Method?

Rapid Release Therapy is not a TCM Healing Method. It is a new age technology that uses a vibrational frequency that helps the body to naturally to break up scar tissue, adhesions that limit our range of motion and cause feelings of tension and pain. It warms the tissues, increases circulation to an injured part of the body and facilitates healing.

  • Am I a Good Candidate For Rapid Release Therapy?

If you are experiencing any type of muscular skeltal pain or tightness, limited range of motion or have post surgical pain long after an incision has healed, you may be a good candidate for Rapid Release Therapy.

  • What Are Contraindications for Rapid Release Therapy?

We avoid using Rapid Release Therapy on those who have clotting disorders or are prone to blood clots, have cancer, have wounds or surgical incisions that are still healing, and those who are pregnant.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the oldest and most widely-known methods of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). We use this healing technique to stimulate the body's immune system and strengthen its ability to heal itself. Acupuncture typically involves the insertion of fine, sterile needles at precise locations (or "points") which correspond to specific ailments or imbalances in the body.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion involves burning an herb called Mugwort and applying the resulting heat to specific acupuncture points on the body. Moxibustion is used to gently stimulate acupuncture points or areas of the body in order to quicken the healing process.

Cupping

Cupping is a therapy that involves placing cups on the skin to create suction. The suction is designed to stimulate the flow of blood within the superficial muscle layers, promoting cell repair. It is commonly used to help relieve muscle tension and soreness as well as the common cold.

Tui Na Medicinal Massage

Tui Na translates as "push grasp." It is a Chinese medicinal massage technique that aims to soften the muscles, increase circulation, increase range of motion, and decrease pain. It’s often used to relieve muscle pain, tension and inflammation, and to heal physical injuries.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is a technique used to release muscle tension, tightness, constriction and pain. . A specialized tool is used to gently rub the skin over a problem area. Gua Sha feels like deep tissue massage.

Herbal Medicine

Chinese Herbal Medicine uses combinations of plants and minerals to help stimulate the body's immune system and strengthen its ability to heal itself. Chronic fatigue can feel like a heavy cloud, blocking your ability to engage fully in daily life. Whether you’re struggling to get through your workday, managing family responsibilities, or simply trying to maintain a social life, the persistent exhaustion of chronic fatigue can feel overwhelming and unshakable. At Herb + Ōhm, Chicago, we recognize how debilitating chronic fatigue can be, impacting mental clarity, physical health, and overall well-being. But imagine having a natural solution to restore balance, energy, and vitality without constantly reaching for caffeine or medications. In this blog, we’ll explore how acupuncture can be an effective, natural way to combat chronic fatigue. By addressing underlying imbalances in the body and supporting your body’s natural healing processes, acupuncture offers a path toward restoring energy and improving overall quality of life. Understanding Chronic Fatigue: The Causes, Symptoms, and Impact Chronic fatigue, also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), is a complex, long-term condition characterized by extreme, unexplained fatigue that doesn’t improve with rest. It can affect every aspect of life and leave sufferers feeling trapped in a cycle of low energy and frustration. Common Signs & Symptoms of Chronic Fatigue: Persistent feelings of exhaustion that don’t resolve with sleep or rest. Difficulty concentrating, often referred to as brain fog. Unrefreshing sleep, or waking up feeling just as tired as before. Muscle and joint pain without swelling or redness. Headaches, memory problems, and mood disturbances like anxiety or depression. Chronic fatigue can profoundly impair your ability to perform daily routines, maintain productivity, and engage socially. Although the exact cause of chronic fatigue remains unclear, it is believed to stem from a mix of immune dysfunction, hormonal imbalance, stress, poor sleep, and other underlying health conditions. Root Causes of Chronic Fatigue Chronic fatigue can emerge from a variety of contributing factors, including: Stress and Mental Health Issues: Chronic stress, anxiety, and depression can deplete your body’s ability to regulate energy effectively. Sleep Disorders: Poor-quality or disrupted sleep can prevent your body from entering restorative cycles. Hormonal Imbalance: Issues like thyroid dysfunction or cortisol imbalances can trigger feelings of exhaustion. Immune System Disruption: CFS can be triggered by an immune system that is overactive or underactive due to stress or illness. Lifestyle & Overexertion: Poor diet, lack of proper rest, or prolonged overexertion can lead to chronic exhaustion. Environmental Factors: Exposure to toxins or poor living conditions may also contribute to the development of chronic fatigue. By identifying these root causes, a holistic approach can focus on addressing the underlying imbalances rather than just masking the symptoms. Lifestyle Changes to Help Manage Chronic Fatigue While acupuncture can play a pivotal role in addressing the root causes of chronic fatigue, incorporating lifestyle strategies can enhance results and prevent symptoms from worsening. Here are some recommendations: Prioritize Sleep: Establish a consistent sleep schedule and ensure you are creating a restful environment. Manage Stress: Incorporate mindfulness practices, meditation, or yoga to help regulate stress levels. Adopt a Balanced Diet: Ensure proper hydration and eat nutrient-rich foods to support energy levels. Exercise Regularly: Gentle exercise like walking, swimming, or yoga can promote circulation and improve energy levels without overexertion. Set Boundaries: Learn to say no to overcommitments and prioritize rest when necessary. Evaluate Hormonal Health: Speak with a medical provider to check for hormonal imbalances that may be impacting your energy. While these changes can help alleviate symptoms, they may not address all of the underlying causes of chronic fatigue. That’s where acupuncture and Chinese medicine can provide support. How Acupuncture Can Help Combat Chronic Fatigue Acupuncture is a cornerstone of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that has successfully helped many patients combat chronic fatigue by addressing both physical and emotional imbalances. Here’s how acupuncture can help: Restoring Energy Flow: According to TCM, chronic fatigue can arise when the body’s natural Qi (life force energy) is blocked or imbalanced. Acupuncture can restore proper Qi flow, improving energy levels and vitality. Balancing Hormones: Hormonal imbalances can often lead to feelings of exhaustion. Acupuncture works to regulate cortisol levels and support other hormonal pathways, reducing fatigue. Supporting Immune Health: Acupuncture strengthens the immune system by improving the body’s ability to heal itself, which can reduce inflammation and the effects of immune dysfunction on energy. Relieving Stress: Chronic stress contributes heavily to fatigue. Acupuncture releases endorphins and lowers cortisol levels, helping you manage stress more effectively and promote relaxation. Improving Sleep: Poor sleep is a major contributor to chronic fatigue. Acupuncture supports natural restorative sleep cycles by calming the nervous system and addressing the body’s internal imbalances. Alleviating Brain Fog: Acupuncture supports improved cognitive function by enhancing blood flow to the brain and calming overstimulation, which can reduce feelings of mental fatigue and confusion. Herb + Ōhm’s Approach: A Fusion of Ancient Wisdom and Modern Techniques At Herb + Ōhm, we combine the ancient healing practices of acupuncture and Chinese medicine with modern therapies and technologies to provide the most effective, individualized care for chronic fatigue. As the chill of winter sets in, do you find yourself battling with perpetually cold hands and feet that just won't warm up? At Herb + Ōhm, we understand how uncomfortable and disruptive conditions like Raynaud's and poor circulation can be during the colder months. Imagine a winter where you can stay warm and comfortable, even in the coldest of conditions, without relying solely on layers of clothing or constantly cranking up the heat. In this blog, we delve into how acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine can offer a natural, effective solution to boost circulation and keep you feeling warm and comfortable throughout the season. Whether you're struggling with cold extremities or seeking overall improvement in blood flow and warmth, we're here to guide you towards a healthier, more comfortable winter. Our integrated approach combines ancient wisdom with modern healing technologies to address the root causes of poor circulation. Join us as we explore the holistic benefits of acupuncture and discover how our unique blend of healing can support your journey towards improved circulation and vitality. Understanding Raynaud's, Cold Hands and Feet, and Poor Circulation Raynaud's phenomenon is a vascular disorder that causes episodes of reduced blood flow to certain parts of the body, typically triggered by cold or stress. This results in numbness, tingling, and a change in skin color (usually white or blue) in affected areas, most commonly the fingers and toes. Cold hands and feet often accompany this condition, contributing to discomfort and reduced dexterity. Poor circulation, especially noticeable during colder months, manifests in several ways and can significantly impact daily life. Signs and symptoms may include: How These Symptoms Can Affect Daily Living Living with Raynaud's and related circulation issues can impact daily activities, making simple tasks like typing, handling cold objects, or even enjoying outdoor activities challenging and uncomfortable. The unpredictability of flare-ups can also lead to anxiety and a sense of loss of control over your comfort and well-being. Understanding these symptoms and their impact helps us tailor effective treatments to enhance circulation and alleviate these challenges effectively. Potential Causes of Raynaud's and Poor Circulation While the exact cause of Raynaud's isn't fully understood, it's thought to involve abnormal nerve control of blood vessel spasms in response to cold or stress. Secondary Raynaud's may be linked to underlying conditions such as autoimmune diseases, injuries, or certain medications. Several factors contribute to poor circulation and cold extremities, such as: Lack of Physical Activity : Reduced movement slows blood circulation, particularly to hands and feet. Environmental Factors : Cold weather constricts blood vessels, limiting blood flow to extremities. Smoking : Nicotine in cigarettes narrows blood vessels, impairing circulation. High Cholesterol : Elevated levels of cholesterol and triglycerides can lead to plaque buildup in arteries, narrowing them and impairing blood flow to the extremities. Age and Genetics : Advancing age and genetic predispositions can affect blood vessel elasticity and contribute to circulation problems. Underlying Health Conditions : Diabetes, Raynaud's disease, and peripheral artery disease can all contribute to poor circulation and cold extremities. Lifestyle Recommendations for Improved Circulation Improving circulation involves adopting lifestyle changes that promote better blood flow throughout the body. Here are some recommendations that may help alleviate symptoms of poor circulation: Regular Exercise : Regular physical activity, such as walking, jogging, or swimming, stimulates blood circulation and strengthens the heart. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days of the week. Maintain a Healthy Diet : A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins supports overall cardiovascular health. Avoiding excessive salt and processed foods can help manage blood pressure and reduce strain on the circulatory system. Stay Hydrated : Drinking an adequate amount of water each day helps maintain blood volume and supports efficient circulation. Limiting caffeine and alcohol intake can also contribute to better hydration levels. Manage Stress : Chronic stress can constrict blood vessels and worsen circulation. Incorporate stress-reducing activities such as yoga, meditation, or deep breathing exercises into your daily routine. Quit Smoking : Smoking narrows blood vessels and contributes to plaque buildup in arteries, severely impacting circulation. Quitting smoking can significantly improve blood flow and overall cardiovascular health. Maintain Healthy Body Weight : Being overweight or obese puts additional strain on the heart and blood vessels, leading to poor circulation. Achieving and maintaining a healthy weight through diet and exercise can improve circulation. Wear Compression Garments : Compression socks or stockings can help prevent blood from pooling in the lower extremities and improve circulation in the legs. Elevate Legs When Resting : Elevating your legs when sitting or lying down helps facilitate blood flow back to the heart and reduces swelling in the lower limbs. Implementing these lifestyle changes can complement acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine treatments to enhance circulation and promote overall well-being. Benefits of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine for Raynaud's and Poor Circulation Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine provide a comprehensive approach to enhancing circulation, alleviating Raynaud's symptoms, and promoting overall vascular health. Chinese herbal medicine synergizes with acupuncture by targeting systemic imbalances and supporting circulation through personalized herbal formulations. Here are several potential benefits of these time-honored therapies, uniquely tailored to address concerns related to poor circulation: Enhancing Blood Flow : Acupuncture is believed to stimulate circulation by promoting the release of nitric oxide, a compound that dilates blood vessels and improves blood flow to extremities affected by poor circulation. Reducing Inflammation : Chronic inflammation can contribute to vascular damage and impaired circulation. Acupuncture treatments may help reduce inflammation markers in the body, supporting healthier blood vessel function. Improving Vascular Tone : Acupuncture points targeted for improving circulation can help regulate vascular tone, enhancing the elasticity and flexibility of blood vessels for better blood flow. Stress Reduction : Stress and anxiety can exacerbate circulation problems. Acupuncture sessions are known to stimulate the release of endorphins, serotonin, and other neurotransmitters that promote relaxation and reduce stress levels, thereby supporting overall cardiovascular health. Peripheral Nerve Function : Acupuncture may improve peripheral nerve function, which is crucial for transmitting signals that regulate blood vessel constriction and dilation, thereby improving circulation. Complementary Herbal Therapies : Chinese Herbal Medicine complements acupuncture by offering herbal formulas that support circulation through their vasodilatory effects that improve blood flow. Individualized Treatment Plans : Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine practitioners at Herb + Ōhm tailor treatment plans to each patient's unique needs and health conditions. By addressing underlying imbalances and promoting overall wellness, these therapies aim to enhance circulation and alleviate symptoms associated with poor circulation.
